Plastic and Hot Vegas Sun Don't Mix

It is hot here in Vegas. Just thought I'd point that out in case you have never been here.

This is the results of the hot.

This is what the blinds are supposed to look like.

I put a blanket up to keep it cooler in my room because when the evening sun hits that west window the heat gets trapped inside. It also kept my room very dark in the mornings. The blanket worked very well. Too well. Those are the blinds all melted and curled. Have u ever seen anything like that before? Sigh..
The good news is now I get to buy new blinds! Oh wait, I'm renting.
I miss my New Mexico sun. Hot in the sun, but cool in the shade. The air is warm, but not like an oven, and when the breeze comes through, it actually cools you off! Here its like blow drying your hair.... if I actually ever did that. I've never really understood blow drying your hair, especially in the desert.... just go outside! Why waste time, energy, and the power bill on something that will happen in an hr without any help?
There was one situation where I think it was appropriate to use a blow dryer. A friend of mine (whom shall remain nameless to protect the innocent, but if u figure out who it is from the story... I'm still telling the story) was going to go out to boat at Lake Mead with her future spouse and family. In the morning after a bike ride, she didn't want to show up smelly so she showered. Then she didn't want them to know she had showered before going out to play in an dirty, icky lake so she used a blow dryer to dry and fluff. This I understand. All woman understand. If you don't understand, ask a woman.

Hum wait a moment......nope no envy here. I only miss being near family. But we would have to be making a lot of money for me to want to live in such heat! AHH scary! Maybe you should have made that your Halloween blog! Funny about the blow dryer thing and I do understand why.

Proof that the sun is evil. Maybe your engineering mind can figure otu a way to harness all the wasted energy. Ha Ha . I have heard of putting foil in the window to reflect the sun. Maybe that and the blanket will protect your new blinds.

So I'm posting on this post because I want you to reach your 10 goal.

At least your blinds are like that because of a natural disaster (I think you can call the Vegas sun a disaster) In my house I have some blinds in pretty bad shape, but it's because of my lovely daughter and her love of scissors =(

As for your bad study habits or lack there of...crack open a book!

If my grandfather were still on this earth he would have a name for you...he might have called you a Smart...umm...BUM. Well he had much more colorful language than I like to use, but you get the drift.

I'm sure you are very SMART since that is your middle name and all, but the what if's will start creeping in soon and then you might freak out. I don't think a Melanie freak out would be very pleasant, so study.

okay, so here is my conference cheer (a week late):

Monson Monson he's our prophet
if he can't lead us we'll all have lost it...

I'm keeping my day job!

Thank you Shawna! I now have 10 comments on this one item... although 2 of them are mine and there are duplicates... At least I made my goal! Perhaps next time I will be a little more specific in my requirements...

I know, I know.. picky picky

Hey, you didn't say that I'm the one who discovered them. I think its just that you have a really powerful blanket! It didn't even fade on the one side. If I'm sick I want the blanket! I didn't see anything about 10 comments so I'll have to look closer. You would easily have more comments if mom, jenny, and neita logged one.
